DODGE DART SWINGER
WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
Welcome to 69dart.com the result of an on and off 4 year restoration.
This restoration started as a dream to build a car similar to one I owned and raced for a number of years in my late teens.
For years friends of mine would talk of restoring their cars and I always said if I did one it would be the car that gave me a lifetime of memories and that was my 1969 340 Dart Swinger.
After nearly 46 years I finally was feeling like it was time to mark this off my bucket list. So after some careful conversation with my wife, she said yes to the build and there I went.
I wasn’t exactly sure where to get started so my first step was find a factory 69 Dart 340 4 speed car that didn’t have many issues.
I started my research and thought there would be plenty of information on line about this, and found if I was restoring a Camaro or Nova there was all the info in the world. As for Mopar or Classic Chrysler there wasn’t much to go on.
After sourcing my parts from many different vendors and gathering specifications for the build I began keeping records so if I wanted to do it again, I’d have all the necessary info.
So I would like to share that information, pictures and build ideas for your future restoration.
Hope you like it
ABOUT RESTORATION
So here’s my story:
I started my search with Craigslist, eBay, and various on-line sites and ended up finding an LM code car that had been converted to an automatic with an engine swapped for a 360 that had some miles on her.
The car was made in Michigan with No a/c but all the other options were what I was looking for. The upside to getting this car was the owner had the original 340 motor on a pallet and included it in the deal. After a little negotiating we closed the deal and now the trick was to get this car and parts to Florida.
We I hired a car transport company to pick her up and they said it would take about a week to arrive.
The transport driver pulled up 4 days later and after giving it a look over I thought to myself I’ve bought myself a project.
So the transport guy gets in and fires it up then I thought (sounds good). He backed her off and parked it.
Another reason for posting my story on this site is to share my experiences and things to look out for as well as giving you as much information about a restoration on a 1969 Dodge Dart in one location and hopefully save you a lot of time with finding information about your restoration.
